Running: The True Story

Running isn't something I've always enjoyed. I used to despise it. I couldn't breathe. I didn't know what I was supposed to do with my arms. I felt awkward and terrible- lol. Once upon a time, running didn't jive with me.
Then I discovered the hidden power in running. It clears cobwebs and breaks down walls. Running became a place where I could work through my junk. It was a moving meditation in its own way.
My love for running really developed last year. I found a shoe (Thank you Virginia) that made me feel natural in my stride. The Altra Women's Escalante Running Shoe is a full-cushioned Zero Drop™ platform, works for me. I didn't feel like I was "fighting" in my runs...I could just go.

I discovered that when I went past the place of "oh my God this is hard and uncomfortable and should I just stop..." there was a place of peace and clarity.
The portability of running is hard to beat. Not to sound like Dr Seuss but I can run on the beach or on a trail; I can run in a neighborhood or anywhere.

Running has become a place where I do a lot figuring out. I don't actually figure anything out- but I run through situations play by play or feed through a memory of my Mom in the hospital or I review my yoga sequence while trotting down Rama Rd. It's a place where I can let all the scribbly scrabble in my brain go.
Why do you run?
Peace and Love-
Dana Sayre~
